Symfony conference in Lisbon
Last week we attended the sixth SymfonyCon in Lisbon, from 6th December till 8th December. The Symfony community met in the capital city of Portugal to share their best practices, experience, knowledge and to learn about the latest developments within the framework.
Before the main event there were two days of pre-conference workshops where developers could acquire new skills and get familiar with best practices. The conference itself gathered almost a thousand attendees, as well as more than 25 speakers in three days. There were three tracks that attendees could choose from - beginner, advanced and PHP.
Fabien Potencier, founder of Symfony, opened the conference and welcomed everyone into the Symfony universe. Afterwards the speakers took the stage to talk about e-commerce, best practices with Symfony, microservices, PHP applications, security and many more. On the third day, we went to Hackday to test our skills and learn something new. Closing keynote addressed all the changes in the Symfony ecosystem during the last year. What we liked the most were talks about Symfony messenger and the API platform. Moreover, advanced API workshops are going to be pretty useful for our day-to-day work.
Overall, we were pretty satisfied with the topics and the conference in general. We are looking forward to exploring other major Symfony events in Europe next year.
